When Hyssop was applied to a person it was a symbol that the person was now considered spiritually clean and able to go into the temple and worship.

Ex. 12:22 Hyssop was the plant God chose to dip into the blood of a sacrifice, then apply that blood to the doorpost on the night the death angel passed through Egypt.
