“And David inquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?’ And the Lord said to David, ‘Go up, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hand.’ So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, ‘The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.’ Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.” (2 Sam. 5:19-20) Baal Perazim means “The Lord (in this case Yahweh) Who Breaks Out” or “The Lord Breaks Through.”
The Lord does breakthrough in our situations when we face the enemy. The lesson would be that David inquired of the Lord. We too, must inquire of the Lord. The Lord answered the cry of David’s heart and delivered him. Will He not deliver you and me?
